Tips for BSR from a Run Coach!

Are you ready to throw down? The Broad Street Run is THIS Sunday.

At this point, there’s nothing left to do but screw it up. No last-minute long runs or strength training sessions. They’ll just leave you fatigued.

Nope. At this point, you’ve either got it or you don’t. If not, hopefully you’ve learned a few things about training along the way. I always do!

After a cold, rainy 2009 race and a steam-bath in 2010, we are finally getting what we deserve: amazing weather! (Of course, there’s still time for Mother Nature to change her mind)

So no excuses. Give it everything you’ve got! No regrets. It’s going to get hard at some point during the race. Accept it. Embrace it. You are ready and you are strong.

Check out my 11 tips for having a great race. If you’ve got something to add, please do. We’ll all benefit!

Come and meet John Thursdays @ Lululemon Walnut St. for Run Club at 6PM!

35th Annual Broad Street Run!!

“Congratulations and welcome to TEAM DUNKIN’!!   You have been selected as 1 of 10 extraordinary individuals to join Team Dunkin’ for the 32nd Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run on Sunday, May 1, 2011!  We received some great submissions, but based on your essay, your community involvement and all that you have done for the Greater Philadelphia area, YOU were chosen!”

You can imagine how excited I was to find this message in my inbox!  I was totally bummed when I hadn’t signed up for the race and it sold out in just a few short days.  All my friends were doing it and I felt totally left out!  On a whim I signed up for this Facebook contest and with little to no hope, I composed my essay.  I had just assumed I’d be crashing the race with my Lululemon Run Club or buying a bib off of Craigslist for 4X the price.

Well, last night I received my confirmation email from the 35th Annual Broad Street Run!!  I am officially registered, yada, yada…  And even better news…I come to find out from a Facebook friend that this year they are giving “hardware” to the finishers! (Medals)  I’m so excited!  This past week (post Paris Marathon), I’ve taken off from running, nursing a small injury…but I’m back in action now, so stay tuned for some fun BSR training photos!
